The Erewash Valley Trail is a circular walking/cycling route which takes in over 30 miles of waterways and countryside on the Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire border. There are lots of shortcuts and links which gives you the option of doing smaller loops around the trail. Bennerley viaduct spans the Erewash Valley and is now open to the public to enjoy, known as the Iron Giant it is the longest wrought iron viaduct in the country.
The canal runs from Trent Lock to Langley Mill (Great Northern) basin. You can follow the towpath all the way on your bike or on foot approx 12 miles along the way you can visit Attenborough Nature Reserve or pick up the Nutbrook Trail Cycle Route which runs up to Shipley Country Park.
